I just realized that I never really abandoned my older projects. I just stopped working on them. Somehow they were all still in the back of my head. Like, maybe one day I’ll keep working on them. But here’s the problem: This creates a lot of baggage.
What I did today is doing a full reset. I basically archived all of my projects, I abandoned them. I made a final decision to stop working on them. And I also gave myself the option to either keep working on one of them, or to start a completely new project. I did this, because I was realizing I’m spreading myself thin. I also did this with game engines. I uninstalled Unity, Unreal and Godot first, and then I gave myself the option to keep working with only one of them. And for now I picked Godot.
So now I only have one project and only use one game engine. Everything else is abandoned forever. I gave myself the chance to do this full reset and it really helped clearing my mind again. It helps me focus without having to worry about any unfinished projects. Without thinking if I maybe will keep working on any of them again. I even thought about deleting them all, but from experience I know it’s nice to look back at older projects in the future, so I only archived them.
